Appalachian Trail

NoBo's, SoBo's, GaMe's, MeGa's, Flip-floppers
– all aspiring 2,000 milers are invited

One of the longest continuously marked footpaths in the world, the Appalachian Trail runs from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Katahdin in Maine. The AT is the subject of tales, books and movies. And the object of many a hiker's quest for adventure, solitude, and discovery. Every year, more and more AT thru hikers choose to include HIKE for Mental Health as part of their journey. We hope you will be one of them!

If you are one of the few hearty souls who aspires to thru hike the Appalachian Trail, consider letting your hike be an inspiration and help to others by including HIKE for Mental Health on your adventure.
By registering your thru hike with HIKE for Mental Health, you share your story with others, help to raise awareness about an issue that affects 1 in 4 American families, and raise funds to help maintain wilderness trails and alleviate the suffering from mental illness.
Registering your thru hike is totally free. You still plan and hike your thru hike your way, from start to end.

Where the Money Goes

HIKE for Mental Health is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

All contributions are tax deductible, and 100% of the hike donations support our mission.

Eighty cents of every dollar funds mental health programs, including break-through scientific research into PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar spectrum disorders, depression and other major mental ilnesses. Through research we can find better ways to alleviate the suffering that affects 1 in 4 American families.

The remaining twenty cents maintains wilderness trails across the country. By supporting the ATC and other non-profit, volunteer groups that care for our trails, we help preserve wilderness experiences for generations to come. Where the money goes.
