5th Annual Summit Mt. Washington

August 27, 2016 • Bretton Woods, NH

Above the treeline on the hike up Mt. Washington
Bask in breath-taking views of the Presidential Range…
Ascend through forest, scrub, and tundra to the highest peak in the northeast…
Soar above tree-line and into the clouds…

Starting early in the morning, we will hike to the summit of Mt. Washington, enjoying spectacular views of the Presidential Range along the way.

After an extended break on the summit to take in the views and recharge our tired muscles, we will make the descent back to base.

This hike is extremely strenuous, five miles of nearly constant uphill hiking. And worth every step!

If you do not want to hike back down, you may be able to ride the Cog Railroad down to the parking lot for $45 or take a hiker shuttle for $30.

If you are coming from a distance and need a cabin bunk for Friday and/or Saturday night, please contact Diana at She has reserved several cabins at nearby Twin Mountain KOA and still has some availability.

HIKE for Mental Health is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

All contributions to this hike are tax deductible, and 100% of the hike donations support our mission.

Eighty cents of every dollar funds break-through scientific research and programs to eliminate the stigma surrounding major mental illnesses such as PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar spectrum disorders, and depression. Through research we can find better ways to alleviate the suffering from mental illnesses that affects 1 in 4 American families.

The remaining twenty cents maintains wilderness trails across the U.S. By supporting non-profit, volunteer groups that care for our trails, we help preserve wilderness experiences for generations to come. Where the money goes.

Come out and join us on Mt. Washington on August 27.

Note about our planned hiking route: We intend to hike up and down the Jewell Trail. If we have a large group and/or advanced hikers, we may also utilize the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, Lion Head and/or Tuckerman Ravine Trail so that we have well-sized hiking groups with hikers well-matched to trails that suit their abilities and interests.

Driving direction to the hike start are here. Details about parking, trails and exact start times will be provided to registered hikers only.
