Join HIKE for Mental Health on a half marathon trail run to celebrate the hamlet of Phoenicia and a beautiful new trail in the Catskills. The run starts in downtown Phoenicia and enters the woods 1.2 miles later. From there, you will follow the Long Path's gentle ascent of Romer Mountain, putting you on a ridge with rolling terrain and plenty of breathtaking scenery, including sweeping views of the Burroughs and Devils Path ranges. The race will end near the Woodland Valley Campground where we will have a barbecue to celebrate our finish. A shuttle will be available to bring you back to the run start after the run. This is a perfect first half marathon for newbies and a nice fast course for more experienced runners.
This event is part of the Long Path Race Series, which aims to build awareness for the Long Path and the work of the Trail Conference and its volunteers and to get more people running and hiking on New York's beautiful trails. Special thanks to run organizers Tim and Jess Luby for waiving the registration fee for our participants. Tim and Jess run Storehouse Catskill Mountain Outfitter in Phoenicia. Check out their website!
Note: If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please contact Sheena at Sheenalynn_p@yahoo.com and she will get you in contact with the run organizers.
The run organizers are generously waiving the $50 registration fee for the HIKE for Mental Health team. We are limited to 10 runners, however, so sign-up soon if you are interested.
Instead of charging a fee, we ask your help raising funds for mental health research and trail maintenance.
It's fast and easy! When you register, you will be able to personalize a sponsorship page and share it through email and your favorite social media such as Facebook or Instagram. How does it work?
Every little bit helps, and there is no minimum to raise – we just ask that you help us spread the word, then come join us on the trail.
Our quick-dry shirts look and feel great, on or off the trail.
Every registered hiker who raises at least $100 will receive a HIKE for Mental Health shirt as a token of our appreciation.
Available in men's or women's sizes SMALL – XXL.
When you register, we will ask your size and color preference. Once you hit $100 in donations to your sponsorship page, we will get your shirt to you.
So help us raise money and awareness for this great cause.
HIKE for Mental Health is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
All contributions to this hike are tax deductible, and 100% of the hike donations support our mission.
Eighty cents of every dollar funds mental health programs, including break-through scientific research into PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar spectrum disorders, depression and other major mental illnesses. Through research we can find better ways to alleviate the suffering that affects 1 in 4 American families.
The remaining twenty cents maintains wilderness trails across the U.S. By supporting non-profit, volunteer groups that care for our trails, we help preserve wilderness experiences for generations to come. Where the money goes.

|Hike director:||"I chose the Phoenicia Ridge to Valley Trail Race because I have a passion for hiking and keeping the body in motion," explains volunteer Sheena Panoncillo. "This trail run not only brings awareness to the Catskills and Long Path, but also the trail conference and its volunteers. As a health care provider, I understand that mental health plays a significant role in complete wellness. I also have found refuge and mental peace in the woods, whether backpacking, hiking, or trail running. I would like to continue to encourage others to find that same peace that nature can provide."|
