Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting my page!

As many of you already know, Zach and I have been planning this hike for many months now.  To most it may seem a little crazy to leave during this time in our lives, but this hike means a whole lot more than just walking 2,192 miles up and down the East Coast.  Personally, I am doing this hike to use nature as my healing therapy.  For the last few years I have learned to help heal many others, but it is now my time to fully heal myself.  It takes a lot of courage and strength for me to explain to you the pain I have endured since a teenager.  I have had a constant battle everyday dealing with anxiety and bouts of depression. It has gotten to the point where it can be almost debilitating pretending to put on a smiling face day to day.  The first hike that Zach took me on the Appalachian Trail was truly life altering and in those short few days I felt a spiritual connection with nature and myself that I have never felt before.  I was able to breath again.

I am hiking to encourage people of all walks of life to step out into nature and just be quiet and listen.  Listen to your inner voice, listen to the animals and surrounding plants.  You can learn a lot about yourself by just listening and being still.

We really appreciate all of the love and support we have already received and are excited to share our experience with you.  We will be posting on our website weekly at So please stay tuned!

ABOUT Appalachian Trail

1 in 4 families is affected by mental illness.

I chose to make HIKE for Mental Health a part of my Appalachian Trail hike so I can raise funds for a great cause and reduce the stigma of mental illness.

HIKE for Mental Health is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded on the vision of a world in which everyone, including those who suffer mental illness, can find the simple joy of living.

Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of those afflicted by mental illness, eliminate the associated stigma, and to foster responsible use of wilderness trails.

As an all-volunteer organization, we distribute 100% of contributions raised by our hikers.

  • 80 cents from every dollar funds scientific research to prevent, cure, and treat mental illness
  • 20 cents maintains and preserves wilderness trails

Your donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the IRS. Thank you for your support.
